Default why 4 doors?

just a curious question. im looking to getting a jk and ive noticed the majority of people have 4 doors instead of 2 doors, why were the reasons for getting the 4 door over the 2 door? and do any of oyu wish you went the other way?

also i would want a 3in lift with 35s. i would like to see the setups you guys are running and how you like it.

thanks

For me it was the fact that my kids were getting bigger and the old YJ Jeep was just two small to pack all of our stuff on wheeling trips! So when the 4 door came out two years ago, I bought it! Much larger inside room to bring my kids and all of my crap!!

Yep. More room! The only thing better than being able to get out to the middle of nowhere is being able to get out to the middle of nowhere with a weeks worth of camping gear!

BTW, I'm running 3" and 35's and love the setup. Pics in my gallery.

Yep, it's the space. Whatever your thing, kids or gear, there's a ton of room!

I bought a 4dr recently to replace a 2dr. I really regret the decision. It is too long and hard to maneuver. Tough to park, etc. Doesn't suit my needs at all.

I second that. Easier to get the kids in and out and we have added a second dog to the family. With the 4 door I can take both kids and dogs and the Mrs.

Welcome to the site. There is tons of information here on your question. Start by doing a search. It's located at the top right corner of the screen.

I went with a 2-dr to get the shorter wheel base thinking that for the most part I would normally only have 1-2 people in the jeep. After going on several trips and having the wife unexpectantly really liking the 4x4 thing, I wish that I had got the 4-dr instead. It has more room and still wheels very well. The 2-dr with the back seat out will just hold all the gear for a nice camping trip for 2. 3-4 people = day trip only, very little room for gear.

That's not nice!

Kids, dog, camping, and the great outdoors. I went from a 4-door Dakota to a Jeep. MUCH happier with the Jeep. I now have stuff to buy for it!

Practicality:

- Almost double the towing capacity
- Seats 7 if you install a 3rd row seat as did I
- I have a feeling the 4 doors will have a better resale value
- Looks absolutely bad ass if you lift it and add tires etc.
- Great vehicle if you're like me where you do just about every sport there is and need the room for gear and friends.
