I really think my X was quite reasonable (about $20,000.00) considering all the fun I have in it compared to cars.

I think the OP means why are aftermarket items so expensive...and yes, because they can. Also, pretty much everything you see on this forum that is aftermarket is better and stronger than what comes from the factory, so, if you had these items already on the Jeep from the factory, your Jeep would cost more...right? At least that's how I look at it

You are paying more to get more out of your Jeep and to make it better.

Oh yeah I agree on the aftermarket stuff. High demand, higher prices.

Well my original thought was the cost of the Jeep, mine had more options than I needed but I did not want to wait for them to find one I wanted, I get the supplier price, and there was a $500 rebate at the time, so not so bad, but the quality of it just is lacking, it says $15000 to me.

I understand I can't do the same things in anything else. and yes the aftermarket stuff is expensive, but it seems fair to me because the quality is better.

Well end of very minor rant, time to save for a lift

I also think that the JK is really not expensive (even cheaper in USA)

In you compare with the other SUV (Toyota, Nissan, etc) you have much more for youre money. For the Jeep Parts, the secret is never buying MOPAR, because it is extremely expensive for the same thing.

The cost is directly related to supply & demand. As long as the demand is there and the supply is constant, the price will either remain steady or rise slightly. If the demand increases, then price will go up. If demand decreases, then you'll see price cuts.

my main gripe, why is everything for the JK 20-30% higher in cost vs a tj

i just dont udnerstand it.
all the bumpers, armor, accessories are WAY cheaper from wht i have been seeing. why are the JKs parts so expensive. I have NO problem at all paying for parts, when priced reasonably. Thats why im waiting a while on bumpers.
600.00 for a bumper is outrageous.

i mean schrockworks TJ bumper is like 350 bucks base line
almost the same bumper frmo them for a jk is 100 more

wtf
i understand there is RnD costs on parts, but a year later after the car comes out, those costs should have been recouped
The aftermarket is deliberately overpricing their items becuase it is a new vehicle and popularity drives up the costs.

its dumb
