Default Will There be Enough Time to Order 2015?

Here's the deal, I'm dying to get back into another JKUR. I already have it picked out and am ready to roll. The only thing holding me back is the supposed diesel option.

I've read that the diesel "will be" offered in 2016 but I have my doubts. It seems according the same research this is rumored every year. So back to my dilemma.

Ordering for 2015 closes April 29th. Will the options for the 2016 be known by then?

It would be ideal to know mid April if the diesel is for real or not. If it is, I'll wait until June to order it. If not I would just order a 2015. Of course there is always the possibility that the diesel is only offered in an automatic, in which case I would just get a 2015 anyway.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I was in this dilemma last year. As I recall, the order banks open in May. You could order a 15 the way you like it (close to the deadline) and then the 2016 orders will open. If you bail out bc of the options on the 2016, they'll still sell it with no problem. I had a dealer tell me they'd order me one for $200. So you're covered either way.

I personally wouldn't wait for the diesel. I doubt they will offer a diesel in the JK. It would be nice thing to have for the low end torque but doubt it would be the 3.0l from the Cherokee and if they do offer it, it will be very pricey.

The 3.6l is a pretty decent engine. Jeeps in general don't drive well at high speeds and the gearing makes the 3.6l drive nicely.

Te reason I don't think they will offer the 3.0l in the jeep. Torque from that engine would probably require stronger driveline and frame strengthening. Additionally the cost of it will put the wrangler out of the price point they try to keep it within. Diesel has been desired for a long time by jeepers but hasn't been offered in the US. OUS it is an economy engine for places with much higher gas prices than the US has, so the customer desire and infrastructure are there too; and from what I have seen diesel is more common than gasoline.
