Default winch issues!

Ok, here's the deal. I just installed my Smittybilt X20 winch about a week ago and I've only pulled it out and rolled it back in a couple times just for testing. I haven't truly tested it out yet. However, after a week I go outside to take my Jk out for a stroll and it won't start?? It won't turn over or anything. Fully dead. Now I've read up on it a bit and I know about buy a bigger battery,a better alternator etc. I just need some direct feedback!

Before assuming you have a dead battery disconnect the negative wire and put a volt meter on it and check if you have about 12 volts. Make sure your meter is set to DC at some voltage higher than 12 so you don't fry the meter. If it's dead then you know your problem and you need to charge it, jump it or get a new battery. In case you don't know, don't try to check AMPS, you could fry your jeep electronics or get hurt. Voltage is safe to check though. If the battery doesn't hold a charge after you charge it up then you either have a voltage vampire in your jeep while it's not on or your battery is toast.

Yea I think that's what I'll do. Just disconnect all of the wires I hooked up from the winch. I know it's gotta be that.
