No one? Guess that's a good thing.

Never a better excuse to upgrade. My uncle just gave me a Warn 9.5ti that was practically brand new. So I was curious what people did to keep them from walking away.

Winches are bolted into place and usually heavy. A thief is generally after a quick easy target. Way to much work to steal a winch for most thieves. I'm sure some where in the world one has gotten stolen but not a major concern.

Yea, with the time involved, that would be pretty ballzy. Now, as I've read and thought about this thread though, it wouldn't be a stretch for some jerkwad to unspool and steal a synthetic line.

Mine will be a PITA to remove quickly. They will have to unbolt my skid plate on my LoD middy to just get access to the 4 bolts securing my winch to the bumper.

If the winch is just sitting on top of a winch plate (instead of being bolted and hidden inside a dedicated winch bumper) it will still have 4 retaining bolts underneath to remove, and need the wiring cut or detached. Probably possible to steal with 5-10 mins of wrenching underneath, so if you're concerned then padlock a thick chain, wire cable or motorbike security chain around the winch and winch plate.
