Just had a windshield put in me 2012 today. We had a cold spell last week and the defroster caused a spiderweb crack to occur out of no where. The guy who fixed it from safelite was a jeeper, so hopefully I'm in the clear.

I was going to start this very same thread about a week ago. Yeah so took a nice sized rock to the upper portion about a month ago. Chipped and cracked as expected so I had to get it replaced as it was directly in my line if sight and the sun was murder when it hit it just right. Fast forward three weeks and a pebble taps it while my wife is doing 35 mph and now I have another crack. I called the company that replaced it and my insurance company which all said what I expected "sorry Charlie we can't do anything about it. We agree I should not have cracked under the circumstances that you described but we can't verify that's what really happened." I am a little peaved. So anyhow being that this crack is in the lower passenger side I'm just gonna rock it until we move from this area in two months. Chances are it'll get another scare before we leave anyhow. Over 20 years of driving and 5 Jeeps never had to replace a windshield and bam two in one month. Ouch!

Fourteen years without a ding or a crack, and I live where they sand the roads in the winter, so there's been plenty of opportunity for chips and dings. I'm lucky AND careful, even with my previous Jeep and trucks.

That ended when I bought my brand new Jeep. In just 8,000 miles I've picked up a real nice ding that needs repaired on the passenger side. And then, last week I picked up a huge chip right in my line of sight. It's not a crack--just a chip out of the front of the glass about the size of a water droplet. ARRRRgh. Now I have to stare at it all the time.

My 12' jkur just barely turned a year old and my windshield has 2 big cracks in it, 1 is about 8" long and the other is about 12" I will wait until they get much worse before I buy a new one

They can't really warranty that you won't get hit by a rock. What did you expect them to do?
