Default Winter drving - sand tubes?

What is your opinion on putting some sand tubes in your rig for extra weight in winter?

my JK weighs more than my old WJ does..

I wouldnt think I would need any more weight.

We had one snow last winter that was 17" and if you go off road the the drifts are wicked.

Please factor in that this is my 1st 4wd ever so I am a babe in the woods.

Deep snow will not be the problem. Ice will be the problem.

i haven't found snow that can stop the JK yet. I pull a sled trailer and I find in 4 lo she is great!.. That said I haven't actually tried to get stuck just walked through a lot of the white stuff.

Robar, tell me more about ice and what to expect. I know the Rubi tires are not suppose to be much fun on ice but what really is?

The problem with ICE is the bigger the tire the more slippery it gets. So if you are running on 35x12.5, you might as well be on hocky pucks. studded tires or chains are the true combatants for ice.

This is good to hear since I have not had the chance to get into snow since purchasing the JK.

The JK does great in 4wd to get going, but stopping is the same in any vehicle.
