I would. Think about going into the mountains, having the top off and the view, seeing things you can't see in any other car. You have a lot of the open airness of a motorcycle, but if it rains, put the top up.

Abso-freakin-lutely!
Last year, I drove from Western Mass. to Western Iowa, about a 1500 mile trip. This was when gas was $4.00/gallon. I had a family emergency, so I just started driving.
So yeah, a long trip in the JK is nothing. I'd want to stop in Colorado, though... and Utah.
When do we leave??

Would I drive my JK to Alaska........sure
Would I drive my JK to Alaska over riding my motorcycle to Alaska.......not a chance in hell
To each their own I guess
Last years mileage between my 2 cars ~10k miles
Last years mileage on my motorcycle ~22k miles
Do I dare ask what the bike is?

Let me know when you get here and I'll fire up the grill
I just drove the ALCAN from Vegas last fall (in the wife's Frontier) and am planning on doing it with the JK sometime in the near future (headed to WY and maybe over to PA)

I drove my old CJ-7 from south Texas to Alaska and back in 2000. It was a great trip.
Now, with my new JK, it's a lot more comfortable, quiet and pleasant to drive. I'd have absolutely no reservations recommending the trip in JK.

I would do it, but would rather have a Hemi for that type of trip.
In hind sight, I wish I would have purchased my Jeep through some dealer near AEV and financed the Hemi along with the Jeep.
