This sounds to be about ridiculous! Next thing they will just ditch the solid frame and spring to the crossover started by the Cherokee. Thoughts?

It does sound ridiculous especially since an independent suspension system would weigh more than the solid axle set up. The solid axles may have more un-sprung weight but it should be lighter overall than an IFS/IRS set up.

The solid axle setup has more drag. I imagine that would help with the mileage more than anything. I hope rapp is right.
