I don't think Gore-tex is an option. I thought it was vinyl or yes. The yes stuff is nothing like gore-tex or vinyl. It's a cloth seat that repels dirt/water a little bit. Not really different than any other cloth seat in my opinion.

Gore-tex would be great as a cover. You would certainly slide around with them and it would probably not wear so great but I would like the breatheability and the water-repellent side.

YES is pretty easy to clean. Had to clean up a lot of blood from my dog (rest his soul) and it came right out.

x2 on the YES. Got VERY dusty and then rained later in the day...everything washed out real easy.

Think of Yes fabric as cloth that has gotten a supposed life time drowning in Scotch Guard, and GorTex like a plastic bag full of real, real tiny holes. Holes so small a drop of water can't get through it, but, unlike a plastic bag without holes, steam(water vapor) can go through it.

GorTex also isn't as strong as seat fabric. If you look at GorTex clothing, it is a middle layer. The constant in and out friction would 'wear it out'. The holes would wear into larger holes and it wouldn't be waterproof for long. Dust would also clog the pores and it would be like sitting on a trash bag.

x2 on the above. I have goretex jackets that need repeated treatments for their external shells to remain waterproof-breathable.

The main purpose of goretex is to keep the inside layer dry, not to shed moisture/solids. There is always a shell layer. In place of this, you might as well get a vinyl seat.

very interesting, I actually didn't think much of yes. to me, as they said before it looked like any other fabric seat.

I just soaked the inside of my Jeep. Freak TX storm and tons of rain. Think it doesnt look that bad. I had 3 inches of water in the floor pan.
Yes essintials fabric is definately not water proof. Soaked up water like a sponge.

Yeah, I've noticed that the YES does absorb some water.

However, I've also noticed that it dries much more quickly than carpet and other fabrics, that or the water goes in far enough to keep my butt from getting wet.

Man, I wish they had the khaki interior on the steel blue model. Much better at hiding dust, though I suppose you don't have that problem anymore!!!
