2017 Spring Uwharrie Invasion
This past weekend Carolina Trails Off-Road hosted the 2nd annual Spring Uwharrie Invasion in Troy, NC. It was a great success and loads of fun. We had rigs from all over the east coast to include SC, NC, and Virginia. The trails were a little wet to start the morning which made the more difficult trails harder to pass, but they dried out for the afternoon trail run and the typical Uwharrie dust didn't disappoint. We had some minor trail repairs to include a broken axle, busted tire, and a bent drag link; but they were back up and on the way with in minutes thanks to the great trail bosses in the group, and some mobile impact wrenches. We did have a roll over at the top of Daniel Trail during a night run, but we quickly got him right side up and he was still able to drive it back to Virginia!!! It's hard to kill those old MJ trucks! We had the pleasure of hosting some stock rigs and first time wheelers, and were able to take them outside their comfort zone in a safe and controlled manner. That's the best part of the trip in my opinion. Thanks to Rootonesix for coming out and hitting the trails with us and also helping to score some raffle items for the event. Thanks Brian and Sam from Rootonesix for also stepping up as trail bosses for the event.
With that said, it wouldn't be an event with out some great sponsors; and we had the best in the business. I'm going to be honest with you all, I reached out to a lot of companies, very well known companies, and some of them didn't even extend a reply. But, most of the sponsors i'm going to mention here are repeat and have always been generous and thoughtful to support our sport and the clubs that make it happen. We aren't one of those huge events like Jeep Beach or Sema, but what we definitely are is a representation of what realistic off roaders are and are looking for. People with jobs and families and budgets that want to use their money and time wisely to create a rig that will accomplish what they need it to do. My money will always go to those that give back and support us common wheelers. Thank you sponsors for your support and for your continued generosity; and thanks for not forgetting where you came from. Superwinch, Teraflex, Factor55, JKS, Morris 4x4, Extreme Terrain, ARB USA, Rootonesix, TPT Fabrication, Barebutt Hammocks, Mad Viking Beard Company, Pixel Decals, and special mention to Jeep Talk Show. Thank you to Treadlightly for supporting the event as our official ethics sponsor. All rules were followed and we got some great recognition from the National Park as a result.
We have a barrage of pictures and video that is still being sorted through, and i'll continue to add more as I go. Also, any of you that attended and want to add pictures and video of the event, please feel free to do so. Each year we learn and grow in an attempt to make the event better. I'd say we have accomplished that with this event. We had a great time camping and wheeling with everyone. The kids had a blast on the trails and in camp, and the weather was absolutely perfect. We all made new friends and shared some special moments with each other. I look forward to wheeling with you all again in the near future. Lots of video of the event can be found on our YouTube channel, and more will be added daily. Enjoy the pics and video!

This is that MJ that took a tumble on Daniel. We set it back on all 4 and continued. It did need a starter but again- the group was a FANTASTIC group and the guys had an extra starter in the back. We got it bolted up and got back on the trail.
If you're in that area and looking for a group to join, I'd suggest checking out the group.

Truetracs at work
For anyone that has a doubt about truetracs and if they lock up and work, take a gander at this video of me going up the first ledge of Daniel when it was super slick. You can clearly see that even with a tire in the air, they are both digging.
