Don't you hate it when it doesn't look like it should be stuck! I mean if I just turn the wheels this way then a little skinny pedal and....&&^%% it's still stuck.

I'm not trying to armchair quarterback, but just give a possible tip. In that situation you may have been better to be unlocked and in 4lo (maybe you were, but you were spinning those tires awful fast for low). Being unlocked there might give you the chance to get some instants of traction before the slipping, spinning tire slid to the side and into an existing frozen over path.
