Default Albany, NY Offroading

Hey, anybody out there know any great trails in the Albany, NY area, or in the surrounding area? I really want to find some great trails but I'm not sure how to go about it. Please advise!

I hope i dont get in trouble but an active group is Adirondack Jeep Club. Adirondack Jeeps

when I went to NY they were great at helping me find places and was willing to meet me at several of the spots around the area.

I've heard of them but have been reluctant to contact clubs. Commitment issues!

I might have to though. Thanks for the info.

Adk jeep club is really good. And they know what they are talking about a lot of the time. I have friends and we travel down to Rausch creek to go often. Or this fall we might do a class four road ride up in vt. If you are interested in going to either of those places let me know and you can join us

Question RECOMMENDATION: Local custom shop/mechanic?

I am in the Albany area. I have been 4 wheeling for years, but just now started to get more serious and went out yesterday and bought a very nicely equipped 2014 4 door wrangler. I will be building this out over a period of time, but I do need to ad some aftermarket stuff pretty quickly and I am not a professional mechanic with a garage and a pile of tools. I want to swap out the standard bumper for a premium bumper with a light bar and winch as well as get a Gobi rack on it with lights. Long story short There's acquiring the hardware (I suppose I can easily do that myself) but I really want someone that knows what they're doing to do the install at a fair price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ~ rb

Welcome to the forum. Sorry, I do all my own mods so I don't have a recommendation for you. The only thing I had someone else do is mount the tires and wheels that I purchased from them. I had them done at Capital District Truck Center on Central Avenue. They did a great job but not sure how reasonably priced they are.

But if you have some mods that you want to try and do yourself, I could give you a hand if I have some free time. I have tools but no garage to work in. So the mods would have to be done as weather permits.

I am a member of a jeep club in Schenectady. It is called Capital District Jeep and Wrangler. (CDJW.org)
We have some spots we go to that is all on the website. They are planning a trip Oct 26 to Rausch Creek in Penn. We are sponsored and get discounts at various locations. I just joined a couple months ago. Great bunch of guys that have a lot of knowledge and are willing to help with mods.
