Rio Puerco and Cedro Peak are cool - but I would suggest taking the 2 hour drive to Red River since your out here and do Goose Lake and Greenie Peak. Beautiful area and trails - great fishing too.

Im in red river right now also hit up the jemez mountains for some camping over labor day. Gonna hit up goose lake and greenie peak tomorrow will let ya guys know how it goes with pics.

Goose lake was an easy trail but one of the prettiest I have been on!

Did you hike up to the peak/ridge above Goose Lake? It's really pretty. You can look across to Taos. I need to find a shuttle from Taos to Ted river as I want to backpack from goose lake to Taos.

Unfortunately I am recovering from a major surgery so hiking at that altitude wasn't an option. That would be one hell of a backpacking trip if u can get it worked out!
