Anza Borrego Wildflower Run 2008
I apologize to the doojers for not posting these up sooner especially since we did this run with them a couple of weeks ago, but better late than never, right?
Anyway, here are a few pics from the wildflower run/camping trip we did through Canyon sin Nombre, across the Carrizo Badlands, down the Diablo Dropoff and into Fish Creek where we set up camp. Of course, being that this was a wildflower run, most of the pics will be of - well - flowers

The floor of the desert was carpeted with these guys (about 4" long and 1/2" fat)...

Took some time out to rescue a nice lady in a semi-submerged Explorer...

Okay, here are a few wheeling shots starting with doojer's brother Trevor in his bone stock Jeep Liberty rental making his way down the Diablo Drop-Off...

Here's a shot of doojer on the 2nd decent on the Diablo Drop-Off...

and me on the same part of the Drop-Off...

doojer flexing a bit as we enter the only technical section (basically a few small rocks) of Fish Creek...

the Libby needed a little help along the way....

me on the same rock...

our camp in Fish Creek...

Sunrise hike shots...

Shot of the canyon walls near the wind caves...

The Ocotillos were in full bloom and beautiful to look at...

and finally, doojette showing Trevor how to air up his tires....

Once again, I'd really like to thank doojer and doojette for convincing us to join them on this run and making it a easy as possible for us to come on short notice. In all honesty, we had an awesome time in spite of the winds and sandblasting at night.

Nah, it did fine. There were a couple of moments that took some extra careful spotting and one time where he had to be pulled off a rock, but no damage done. They were supposed to rent us a JK but had none in stock and insisted that the Liberty was comparable....
Of course, we had to see if they were right or not.
We got the $14/day insurance just in case.
