Default Bill Moore Lake & Spring Creek 1-23-10

Well, today was a blast!! I got to finally get the JK out on something other than pavement. I met up with Don at the burger king near Empire and we headed out to Bill Moore Lake. We made it past the steep hill section but got denied about half way up the trail.

Here is the base of Bill Moore Lake

Trail going up:

I don't have a picture of the snow drift that stopped us (although it looked like someone slid down the bluf about 5 feet at the spot we stopped).

Here is a picture very close to where we stopped

Given that we were denied at Bill Moore lake and it was still early in the day we decieded to see how far we could make it up spring creek, given that it is only a mile or so away anyway.

We actually got further up spring creek than we did Bill Moore Lake!

Here is the creek at the bottom of the trail

Heading up...

This is my FAVORITE picture so I thought I would share..

Here is where we got stuck and poor Don had to change his pants after this!! He slid to the very edge of the bluff in a drift while trying to push through it... a little shovel work to give him some ruts to drive in kept the jeep on the trail..

On the way back down I was determined to find something to flex up the suspension and see what rubbed and what didn't...

This is all i could find.

The back tire is going to need a little clearance work.

It also looks like i need to tube fender or get to cuttin...

Don flexing up.

It was a great day, and a good trip! I got owned coming back down I70 as Don flew by me in his 5.7L Hemi!! I was doing good to hold 50-55 LOL!!

I was VERY impressed with the ride and ability (what little I did with it) of the JK!

Thank you very much!! Today was great as all I could think about were the countless hours under the jeep and how much it was finally paying off.

Nice little run you had there.....both rigs are kick a$$!!.....I am thinking the same 37 inch shoes for mine soon enough.....look good with the TF4LA....So a fender chop would be needed to max out flex??

No, the only reason I am going to have to cut mine is I have ProRock full width axles that are 6" wider than the stock JK axles. This pushes the tires out past the fender sides and will allow the tire to rub when turned.

You will need to trim the rock slider for the stock Rubicon slider and I also noticed that I slightly rubbed the rear bumper as well...although this will be replaced with an Aberle rear bumper very soon!

I am VERY happy with my tire choice and the lift!! It rides VERY good on the highway and is very agile off-road!

Everthing about your thread here was AWESOME - the jeeps, the trails & the scenery. There is just nothing like that in the east (other than the jeeps).
Some day I've got to get out there.
