Buzzard Canyon Oklahoma private offroad facility.
This place is into it second year and it is already great and getting better as the trails weather. The existing trails are very exciting and challenging so that one aspect of the place doesn't get excercised too often. They give you permission to create new trails anywhere you choose.
We did that this weenend and that was tough when the way ahead was no longer doable and we had to figure out which way to get out of the gully and then how to get back accross the dry creek. Turned out the Jeeps didn't have too much trouble at the best spot we could find for dropping into the ditch but the Toyota we had with us didn't fair so well, it now has a modified front bumper.
The place has enough space that I think you could go there everyday and have something new to try. If it ever rains again there will be soupy areas for those that like that sort of thing. There is rock crawling, hill climbing, and every thing in between.
There is a large area for camping with a large grill unit and firewood, even a blue outhouse. The site has some scheduled openings throughout the year and can be used at other times by arrangement.
We found that having a wench is very important on these trails. We never had to wench a Jeep but we did have to wench the Toyota and the full size Bronco more than once.
The hills are steep enough that if someone has an old carb fed fuel system they will have trouble on some of the long climbs on the trails. That ended up being the death of the Broncos starter. We had to tow it back out to the camping area with a fried starter due to fuel starvation. We tried to cool it by putting cold water on it and it sounded like throwing water into a fire.
Bone stock to modified to the max can find something to do at this site that will be a challange and fun. If you come here once you will be back again and again. If you have someone that is thinking about getting a Jeep but they are on the fence take them on a run here and they will be hooked for sure.
Give this place a try if you like wheeling and exploring. Oh one more thing, the scenery around here is incredible as well. Unfortunantly the battery died in my camera after a couple of shots.
