Best thing I've found was an old hobo camp. It was big, musta been a hobo village or something. Lots of beer bottle caps
Funny you say that, we also found a hobo living in an old piece of sewer tube. He had a ton of kids clothes in a rubbermaid container. The police informed us later he gets the stuff from dumspters to stay warm.

Stuff like this scares the crap outta me. I dont want to stumble upon some kind of illegal activity out in the middle of the desert. No one around for miles...Not to mention everyone in AZ has a gun.

I need to start carrying protection when I go off road.

Not a Jeep story but definately an off road story...One time I was going surfing with some friends on the east coast of Florida near Ft. Pierce and I was in my uncles Bronco II and decided to go off road before hitting the beach because it was still dark. We were making our way through the woods when we came across a white house that was clearly marked up as a KKK meeting house. I was driving and didn't really panic right away until the front door swung open and I didn't wait to see who or what was coming out of there and wheeled the same trail that got me there in reverse at full speed.

I can laugh about it now but I almost left a present for my uncle on his front seat.

We always do. But then again its Arizona and its more for fun when we take a break than anything. .... doesn't mean we still have one mag full and ready to go. Almost got in trouble with the sheriff a few weeks back but that was their own fault for not announcing them selves and just pointing weapons at us.

Haven't found anything wheeling but I have on foot. A buddy and I used to go far off the beaten path outside of bear valley. We found a huge pot farming operation that looked like it was used the summer prior. There was a drip system designed to feed hundreds of plants. Some leftovers were growing. The campsite looked like a few guys were there all summer. Judging by the canned foods, hot sauce, and porno, Id say it was mexican mafia. Glad we found it after it was used or Id be fertilizer. We got out of there quickly.

We also found the bones of a guy that had been missing for two years. He was tripping on something and went wandering out in the middle of a snowstorm. We were building a bike path and kept coming across bits of bones. We didn't think much of it until my friend found one probably from the leg. We immediately got the sheriff. It was nowhere near as disturbing as the animals in the fridge though!

here at a a local 4 wheel place, 5 mile pass, there were a couple abandoned trucks. a semi truck, looked like drilling for oil or something? and a water truck type thing. there was a camper on the side that we could tell was burnt down! tons of stuff destroyed on both things! people just stole everything. checked the liscense plate registration year and it said 2004. then I went back and it was all gone except the frame of the semi and bunch of the garbage. this was in the trail, so not easy to get to or get out! don't ask me how they got in or out but they did! I could tell it wasn't the owner who took em, someone scrapped em! oh and their are a bunch of mineshafts their, one has a old jeep truck in it! they are. now all barred up!

When i was 12 i was in Wyoming riding dirt bikes on some old logging roads with my cousin and we came across an abandoned logging operation half sunken into the ground. I guess there must have been a thaw and they tried to remove the equipment but it sunk into the mud in the process.

A couple years back I was wheeling with some friends in the Bradshaw Mnts outside of Prescott AZ and we totally stumbled on a make shift meth lab... Pretty standard for AZ anyway. Also in the bradshaws we found a little shack with nothing but a wood stove and a mattress. Not to creepy except for the giant(I mean GIANT, "nothing short of murder") blood stain on the mattress. Needless to say we didn't stay long at either location.
