has anyone crossed recently the darien gap from panama to colombia? i am thinking of driving from COnnecticut to at least Colombia if not Chile?

There was a fellow a couple of years ago that tried it on a motorcycle, think he pushed it more than he rode it. Think his last name was Pederson, google it alot of boat time also.

I have been to Colombia many times over the last decade. It was safer than most US big cities before and now has gotten even safer. As to why someone will want to do this: to see insane roads and beauty not seen around here...

Being in the city is one thing, taking a vehicle through FARC-controlled territory is something completely different.
