Death Valley End of the Year Excursion 2009
What a hell of a week and awesome end to 2009. For those of you who didn't get a chance to join us for the Project-JK Death Valley End of the Year Excursion, you missed out on 3 days of exploring some of the most beautiful sights you could ever hope to see and of course, a ton of fun with good friends. Here are some of the pics we took on our trip.
DAY - 1
At Kristys Restaurant in Ridecrest having breakfast with everyone joining us for our Death Valley end of the year Excursion!
Lined up at the Trona Pinnacles...
Everyone taking some time to explore the pinnacles....
Moochie standing on top of a pinnacle that he climbed up....
At the ghost town of Ballarat airing down....
We had the priveledge of getting buzzed by low flying F-18's...
Thanks to the recent rains, we got to see some beautiful pools of water in the Panamint Valley....
Making our way into Goler Wash....
Stopping for some lunch at the Lotus Mine....
Exploring what's left of the Barker Ranch House (Charles Manson Hideout)...
Moochie and toad reading a log that was left in the last remaining structure that documented who had been out to help clean up....
Working our way up to Mengal Pass...
Everyone making their way up to the top of the Butte Valley lookout point....
Towards the top, the trail is pretty rutted and frank8800 get's a little 3-wheelin in....

Day - 2
DAY - 2
For Day 2 of our Death Valley End of the Year Excursion, we decided to head up to Scotty's Castle, make our way over to Ubehebe Crater, make a stop over at Tea Kettle Junction and then finish up our day at the Race Tracks....
sbron was having some death wobble problems the day before so we spent some time working on getting it fixed before heading out....

Taking a short 1/2 mile hike up to the Little Hebe Crater...

Making a stop to help a guy fix a flat on the way out to the Race Tracks....
The new Tea Kettle Junction sign that the park service put up....

Of course, it wouldn't be complete without the JK logo...

Trail Bud reveals the mystery of how the rocks on the playa move....
Apparently, it works with sitting toads too....
Looking north towards the Grandstands as the sun dips behind Ubehebe Peak....
Finishing up our day back at the Stagecoach in Beatty, NV....

DAY - 3
Our final day in Death Valley was spent exploring Titus Canyon. Along the way, we made a stop at Red Pass, the ghost town of Leadfield and in the narrows to take in the impressive views....

A big thanks goes out to everyone who joined us on this run. We had an outstanding time with all of you and we definitely are looking forward to hitting the trails with you again!!
