Dry Branch "road" - Kentucky (OR - I love Garmin)
Small world
Paint Lick Creek is a pretty popular place for wheelin', fishin', bonfires and the like. Some trails are kinda tight, more suited to an ATV, but if you don't mind battle damage it can be done.
I took these pix yesterday about a click upstream from where dry branch/wheeler branch road crosses the creek.

This shot is about 100 yards upstream from wheeler branch road:

If you take wheeler branch road up to posey ridge, turn left, then right on Reagan Rd., you will end up down in Silver Creek where they are som pretty cool spots to wheel. A few decent hill climbs etc.

I live in Lexington as well. Dying to find a place to take the jk wheeling. Is that around the same place Laughingstok is talking about Dubya? Looks amazing! I would love directions.
KentuckyMud - Yes, Dubya's photos are VERY close to where I was. I'm pretty shocked at how small the world is, especially since I discovered Dry Branch by my lonesome. That Reagan Rd. he's talking about is literally two roads up from Dry Branch. http://maps.google.com
Search for Reagan Rd, Richmond, KY.
Dubya - I'd be much obliged if you could name off some other "roads" you explore, even closer to Lexington if you know of any. My problem is I'm brand new to Jeeps and I go out some weekends simply to hunt for new areas to explore.
Dangerous, possibly. Fun, definetely.

I almost passed over this thread because there were no pics, glad I didn't because that was a great story. I know there have been plenty of times in my past I have gone "exploring" in my yj and xj and gotten in some sticky situations. That is part of the fun for me, I remember one time I was in my jk and going up the hill to my house I saw a fun looking little climb. It was dark and raining and I though how cool would it be to "perch" up there when my dad (who was coming behind me,) came through. It turned into one of the worst off-camber situations I have ever been in with the jeeps nose up in the air and leaning way way driver. It was pouring down rain and it was about a 5 foot drop when I opened my door so imagine the other side.
I finally realized that without a spotter, (or maybe even with one,) there was no easy way out, so with the jeep leaning way driver and the front end up, I cut the wheels hard driver, put it in reverse, and dumped the clutch, and came down hard, but not rolling. The jeep actually started to come on over, but with the tires pulling it backwards off of the hill when it started to come over, it just pulled it down on level ground. No damage, just wet pants.
