So I was reading this months(December 2010) Petersen's 4wheel and offroad mag, and the main article is on trail closings. Our legislation is trying hard to end the thing we love the most. It's probably be said before, but with all the lift laws and height restrictions. We are fighting a losing battle. We need to act on this matter. With SEMA on our side we can get in the fight. As some of you may know they are on the front line for us and by us I mean everybody that loves to turn wrenches on the weekends and drive our rigs offroad. I believe if we help them be our voice we have that fighting chance.
So back to the article, as I was reading they mentioned a part of SEMA that I was not aware of (SAN) SEMA ACTON NETWORK there website
is w ww.semasan.com this is where there membership is free and you can register your group or an single membership. I went ahead and registered our group to help support them. I encourage everyone here to read the article and become a member,so we can have a voice in this matter. They are stepping up to the plate for us, and we need to support them.
Look there are a lot of good trails left out there but more and more are being taking from us. I mean I'm no tree hugger (no offense if you are) but we have to leave the trails as we found them and respect the land that we use. That will help as well as supporting SAN.
So please read the article and lets pull together and help keep our trails open.
Thanks for reading.

I'm on board with you brother. I also joined the Blue Ribbon Coalition as well. Sitting back and doing nothing will accomplish exactly that, nothing. If you love your freedom to get out and explore as much as you love your Jeep then it's time to get off your hump and be heard. Explaining to your kids one day how you "use to be able" to wheel Trail "X" will not be nearly as fun as actually taking them on it.

Come on guys and gals lets great on the board with this. They realy need our support. I mean who would you turn to if you drove up to your local trail this weekend and there was a big ol gate across the road and a sign that said trail closed?
That would suck, don'tcha think?

. Those of us that believe in this definitely need to have our voices heard!!
we've got to fight there's no doubt in that. get with your clubs, if your not a member join, if they aren't already members of these groups push them to be, constantly bring up the land use issue. we more clubs we can have unified nationaly the more we can accomplish. work within your area to have a good relationship with your local authorities, police, search and rescue (this is a good one), volunteer your services and your clubs services to these groups. this will shine a positive light on our sport and rigs, get the little government on your side and move up the ranks

Yes SEMA is nation wide. They also fight for hot rod enthusiast. And they put on a huge aftermarket parts show in Vegas every year, where they also promote the concerns we share about trails etc...
