Default First trip to Rausch Creek videos

I'm so glad I took the 2 door. I needed that shorter wheelbase in a few places.

Highlights:
Minor damage to stock front bumper (removed the plastic before I went), minor damage under passenger side rails. Rock Creek. Time to get some armor... Had to edit that video down from 24 min. I left the camera on and YouTube kicked it out.

Getting turned around 180* downhill on ice. Backed down for a few hundred feet until I was able to spin it back around. Trail H. This same trail 2 new 4 door JKs, one rubicon, had gotten stuck on the ice and a little crashing into each other too. Paul in the red jeep was able to give them a hand. I was quite puckered up on that ride down too. I turned off the video when my phone rang and I thought I turned it back on, but I didn't, so you don't get to see the backward action. :(

All in all my stock jeep did pretty well.

Default nice vids

I was there with LIOR Saturday we in the West property down around Rock Creek. There was a bunch of Broncos that were doin bumpercars down J so we had to come down H, that snow and ice was no joke. I was on 35 MT/Rs and had to winch uphill in a spot cause I was startin to spin downhill.

Yeah, I just figured, I'd go down in reverse for a lil bit. HAHAHA. It was great practice though driving in 4low and using brake until almost stalling. took me a few tires before I got the hang of it. I was locking up on the brakes before hand.

I'm uploading a vid from near rock creek now, we went past those guys. One of them had broken a U joint in the water. We had to go around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G66Jt8pkQUc

They had J closed when we went by. The ride going back up, alone the power line parallel to H was FUN! I was going up that full speed. Another video fail, I thought it was recording, but it wasn't. :(

I was one of the new Jeeps playing tag on the ice of Trail H... and we were with the early broncos.

My buddy's bronco stalled, so he lost all power/braking/steering on the ice. He plowed into a full size bronco, crushing his hood, grill, and the FSB's tailgate. They managed their way to the bottom without more incidents.

My buddy in the black Unlimited got hung up in the ice ruts and tagged my spare tire. A couple attempts at getting him into the snow resulted in a couple more slides into my Jeep. He lost a fender and front bumper; my rear bumper got smashed. After walking his jeep about 2/3 of the way up the hill using branches, you guys came along and finished with an appreciated tug. After the first slide, we decided to pull the plug. I had my 3yo son in the Jeep and didn't want to take any additional unnecessary risks with him on the trip.

This wasn't my first time to RC and I have to say the Rubicon impresses me every time I'm out. Using the lockers, it backed up the slick hill without any trouble at all.

Thanks for the help Saturday. I'll be happy to return the favor next time!

Jeff

Going downhill on H was no joke. So that's where all those branches came from?

BTW, Did one of you 2 happen to lose a shovel? I was gonna turn it in to lost and found at the gatehouse, but we didn't get back there until after 5pm and they were closed and we had to go down to the gas station to air up.

That was mine... I was trying to throw some gravel onto the trail for traction before we went to the branches - ground was frozen solid. I realized I had left it behind after I was home. Sorry if they were in the way - after 90 minutes+ walking him out using the branches, I think we were just anxious to get off that trail!

Give me a holler. Any chance you still have it? I'll trade good beer for the shovel.

Jeff

EDIT: I just googled Finksburg, MD to check location for a beer-shovel swap - you're 2.5 hrs away. Thanks for grabbing it, but I think you have a new shovel to keep in your Jeep. Jeff
