Gravelrama 40 - JK Forum Representin'
For those in the know this was over a month ago. Sorry I'm a slacker.
Also I have some pretty good pics with the DSLR, but unforunately in a mad rush to get a pic the strap caught on one of the seat belts and.... well....
Gravelrama has been put on by IOK 4 Wheelers for the last 40 years. They have sand drags on an 1/8 mile track that goes from flat head willys to full blown hemi rails. They have and up hill drag that's rather entertaining watching them try to stop. Then there's the Big Eliminator hill which is a 70 degree incline of basically pea gravel. An adult in decent shape will have a seriously hard time climbing this on foot. An adult in not-so-good shape isn't making it.
This place and event is kind of special to me since I grew up there. In the summer when no events are going on the club members hang out at "the pit" which is a 68 acre retired gravel pit the club bought back in the 70's. This is obviously where a young boy learns to drive a jeep WAY before it's license time.
26 years later is amazes me how many people I grew up with still show up every year.
Ok enough babbling.... On to the crappy iPhone pics!

Oh what a pretty blue jeep! I wonder where it's parked?

Here's one of the only pics of the actual hill being run in competition. You can see the hill drags on the left side of the picture. (hey, what's that blue blob up there?)

Here's a picture from my viewpoint of the competition. That was an old friend I ran around with in our teenage years during the event. I'm pretty sure this was his first trip making it over the hill.

I was running pull jeep for the racers that broke, overheated, ran out of gas or whatever and needed to be dragged back down the hill. Yes, the JK logoed jeep was in full view of the crowd all day! To bad they probably needed a telescope to see it.
Here's just another pic from the front side. If anyone is really interested in these I'll go pull the DSLR out and see what I got. I damaged the lens to the point of needing replacement and haven't had the heart to look at it since then. Thanks for looking!
