[QUOTE=

Looks familiar... I hydro-locked my new JK in that very ditch two months ago and still haven't gotten it back yet.[/QUOTE]

did you punch it or were you driving at a low speed? Did you have a CAI or the original airbox? I ask because I have a CAI and have heard of this hapening and I am thinking of switching to a snorkel anyone else care to help me with my decision? I got approval from the wife already!

Punched it, CAI. I'd avoid the True-Flow XDI like the plague... the way it is shaped allows water to pool at the bottom of the intake, soak through the filter, and get sucked into the intake manifold. I just got her back (finally), put the stock filter and airbox back in, and am getting the AEV snorkel.

So lessons learned... water + CAI + speed = $5,000+

Great pics. I too love the one with the water/mudline. Its impressive you made it out.

Sidenote: Does anyone know roughly how deep of water a stock Rubi can wade through?

From a 2007 Rubicon Owners Manual:

Flowing Water

"...If you must cross flowing water avoid depths in excess of 9 inches."

Standing Water

"Avoid driving in standing water deeper than 20 inches, and reduce speed appropriately to minimize wave effects. Maximum speed in 20 inches of water is less than 5mph (8km/h)."

Hope that helps...

I think they're definitely covering their asses, and a lift and tires should greatly increase fording capability. I was up to my mid-thigh trying to winch mine out.
