Jamboree Bethel, ME
I know this is an older thread but I'm new to Jeeps and have an 08 JK, loveing it so far. I was thinking about signing up for the Maine jamboree this year (2009), but besides some minors mods like CB and what not all I will have is a Shrockworks Midwidth and Warn powerplant winch. Should I wait until I have a lift and 35s or are there mild trails for me to try at these events? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you have front and rear tow points. The rear one can be a hitch with an insert & shackle (aka d-ring). A hand-held CB is fine. You should also have a snatch strap. One of the most important things off-road are tires. All-Terrain tires don't do well. First thing you should do is upgrade the tires, and get a lift if you need one for the tire size you choose.
A winch and new bumpers, etc are nice, but not necessary for a Jeep Jamboree. Plenty of people are there to tow you, so winches aren't often used in the beginner-intermediate trails.
There are several beginner / mild trails that are a lot of fun. Stock YJs and TJs do them with no lift (31" tires i think) and AT tires, although they need a pull once in a while. :-)
If you have a Rubicon, then you're already set -- you'd be surprised where a stock Rubicon (MT tires and lockers) can go...
Edit: And as ToTheWall suggested, sign up soon. The Bethel Jamboree sells out quickly every year.

I missed this thread. I was on vacation when it was posted. Thanks for bringing it back. I really enjoy seeing all the great Jeeps and the beautiful woods in color. It is 24 degrees below right now and pictures like these are the only things that help me keep my sanity. Thank you!
