Default Jeep Jamboree USA - 26th Ouray CO Trip Report

Being a national sponsor of the Jeep Jamboree USA organization comes with many privileges, including off roading in locations more picturesque than any post card has ever highlighted.

We joined the JJUSA team for their 26th annual Ouray, Colorado excursion, where Jeepers from 32 states gather to drive through the “American Alps.”

Chad, the newest Rebel team member, drew the short straw and cruised solo from our location in Laguna Hills, CA to western Colorado, 879 miles away. It rained every single mile of his trip, forcing him to pull over at one point since the hail literally brought visibility to zero feet.

Upon his arrival the always fantastic JJUSA staff greeted him and put him right to work. We volunteered up our Rebel canopy to be a makeshift tech inspection booth at the staging area. With over 150 Jeeps in attendance, this was their largest turn out ever showing us that Ouray will be on all future yearly event schedules.

The weather was “bearable”, meaning snow, rain, sleet, and overcast days. The showers didn’t deter the group as each morning everyone lined up and enthusiastically set off on their adventures. Chad in our Rebel Command Vehicle tackled Imogene Pass and Poughkeepsie Gulch 4x4 trail. By conquered, we mean drove. Ouray isn’t for the rock crawling or technical crowd. This is a scenic, family oriented, bring your brand new Jeep on to enjoy.

We’d like to thank the JJUSA staff for all their hard work and dedication, Ouray is quickly becoming one of our favorite destinations. You don’t always have to be in 4 wheel drive to enjoy the out doors.

What a job! Would love to "have to go to Colorado" for work! Really would love to go back to Ouray and do some wheeling...the only time we went through Ouray it was on the way home from a trip and there wasn't any play time but definitely going back at some point...beautiful country! Thanks for sharing!
