Jeeps dont float!!! (pics)
Went wheeling in Disney, OK at Grand Lake by the dam and almost lost my jeep to a 15 foot deep water hole. There is a small ledge under the water that you need to hug and stay on to make it to the other side. Well I strayed to far away from the ledge and that's when it started to sink. The water was all the way up to the top of the drivers seat. My passenger and myself got out of the jeep to stand on the right rear tire to keep it from rolling into the water hole so we could hook up a winch. We hooked up two winch lines. One to stabilize and one to recover. Luckily the only damage the jeep suffered was wet carpets as this could have been a total loss. Anyone else ever come this close to losing their jeep while offroading?
WOW
You got lucky that the water went over the driver's side, not the passenger side. Had it gone that deep, but just over the passenger side instead, it would have hydrolocked your engine for sure
There are actually some back ways into the trails that do not involve water crossing. Last time I was up there we used them because the water was too deep. You end up having to go through Tijuana.
Next time we're all out there together I can show you if you'd like
