Joshua Tree National Park
Hey guys has anyone been on the Berdoo Canyon Trail within the last few months? My wife and I are going to be down there next week and were thinking about going into Joshua Tree that way.
If you go in that way, do you still have to pay to get into the park?

Berdoo Canyon is open and in great shape. A two wheel drive vehicle with modest ground clearance can make the trek just fine. Yes you will have to pay upon leaving the park through one of the three main entrances. Of course...you can always come back down Berdoo or just make sure you exit after hours. Either way, just make sure you pack a lunch and take lots of pictures. It sure is beautiful up there this time of the year.

The Ranger office is at the entrance and if you take Berdoo Canyon to Geology Tour Road you come out at Joshua Tree. From there it really isn't convenient to drive to the entrance to pay as many take Berdoo Canyon back out to the 10. However, if you do camp there or enter further into the park it's a good idea to help out the parks and pay the fee. Have a good time!

A few weeks ago the only place manned was the visitor center. Entrances had booths, but no one manning them. Honestly, if you plan to visit many federal properties, want to just help out the parks, or simply can afford it, buy an annual federal lands pass for $80.
