Finally made our lunch stop on Saturday... The world famous Oark General Store!

Got some friendly route advice from a female ranger that was stopping to eat, also. She told us they just closed all of the kayak and canoe access points on the river due to flooding and high current. Should have been a warning to us, too!

Once again I ask my traveling companions to tell me what they think:

After some burgers and home made pie sampling, we head back into the trails...

Hmmm. Lawnchair. Someone has been watching the river either rise or fall...

He made it. Guess I have to...

Seems the river makes a wide bend here and you have to cross it again in a few hundred yards, but the current looks really rough for a wide spot... Only one way to check conditions... Wade in.

It got up waist deep on a 6'5" man, so we decided a u-turn was in order!!! Back to the previous crossing

All of the flooded creeks and reroutes slowed us down and knocked us off our planned path, so we hit a little highway and returned to Long Pool Sunday night before heading home..

Beautiful country. Did two JRTC rotations at Ft Chaffee but both times were during the winter so I didnt get to see it all greened up. Looks like you guys had an adventure.
