Lead King Basin, Crystal Mill, Taylor Pass Colorado
Following IntrepidXJ's posts I decided to drive the trails around Marble Colorado. He provided me with a few places I MUST drive...
So over Labor Day we drove out to Marble to a campground called Bogen Flats. Very nice campground. Saturday we trekked off to Marble...
Active marble mine. The picture doesn't show how the marble sparkled in the sun...
Crystal Mill...
Just outside the town of Crystal...
We continued past an ominous sign that read "Extremely Rough Road Ahead" or something... and surprisingly my wife wanted to continue...
I could not believe how many other Jeeps, hikers and mountain bikers there were... as a courtesy I pulled over and let them all pass because I wheel slowly and take in the sights... no need for others to be stuck behind me...
The next day we drove to Aspen... I wanted to see Pearl Pass and decided to buy a map... funny thing... there were no maps to be found, stopped at a 7-11, several other gas stations and even a grocery store... no maps. I was getting frustrated, but decided that the GPS was enough and we would wing it...
So we ended up going over Taylor Pass and back to Aspen and had a blast...
Ended up going back to Aspen via a ski slope (the GPS said the road was CR15)
Had a great time... will definately go there again.
