I had an excellent meal and local brew at Zax a couple weeks ago. Highly recommend!

x2 on the book and spiral binding.

if you don't want to go it alone, i'm sure you can hook up with a group in town (early morning). or go with red rock 4 wheelers (rr4w.com).

would it be reasonable to assume it would be easy to hook up with a group at the staging areas in the morning? Any ideas on a good time to be there for groups?

I don't know that there's a specific time, but City Marketplace is the place folks go to find other wheelers. It's right on Main Street.

x2

When we were there last week almost always saw Jeeps or some 4x4 there. Wish I had known that was a meet up spot. Well there's always the next trip.

If you're going to eat out at a restaurant, The Moab Brewery has some pretty good food/portions for the money. I'd put pricing on par with the national chain restaurants with portions and quality a notch above them. If you haven't already reserved accomodations and you're not planning on camping it might be worth considering a rental condo or house. I know you can find info on that through www.discovermoab.com (Moab's tourism web site). We stayed at a condo (more like a townhouse) when were were out there. Depending on how many in your crew the place could sleep up to six and was affordably priced compared to some of the hotels. Check it out at moabdreams.com for more info on the place. Having the same ammenities you do at home, not to mention having a garage to work on my rig in when I need to was was a nice perk. The woman who owns the place was great deal with and the home was really pretty nice.

It's at 9 or 10....in which they say 9 but people show up late....and leave by 10....its the only big grocery store in town so everyone buys their lunch there and fills up the tank....
