Moab Trip 2009 - June 13-19
June 13 - We left St. Louis at 8am and drove to Denver.
June 14 - We left Denver at 8am and drove to Moab. 4.10s and the 35s were ok thru the mountains with a manual. Had to drop it to 4th a couple of times to keep up with traffic but this were good. I do not think I will be changing the gears anytime soon unless I move to the mountains.
We arrived to Moab around 2pm and decided to try Klondike Bluffs. We decided on this trail because it was the first trail last time. It might become a tradition for the Jeep. On Klondike Bluffs, there is a crack that we played around on.
Take a look at the pics. http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink Klondike Bluffs is an easy trail that can be done with any stock Jeep and in a matter of a couple of hours.
June 15 - We were suppose to meet up with a few fellow JKers from around the country but never did. We decided to hit Hell's Revenge http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink
and in the afternoon Fins and Things http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink.
Hell's Revenge is awesome and can be done with an X but if you want to try the difficult stuff, you might need a rear locker (tons of bypasses). This trail took the whole morning.
Fins and Things is also awesome and we saw a stock TJ doing it. This trail took a couple of hours.
In the evening at our hotel, there was a yellow 4 door rubi airing up. We decided to talk to him and see what his plans were for the week. Cutting to the point, we decided to hang with him thru Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike, and Golden Bar for the next day and do Hell's Revenge and Fins and Things on Wednesday (again).
June 16 - Got to the trailhead of Poison Spider at 9am. http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink Did Golden Spike http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink
and Golden Bar.
On Golden Spike, we ran into Dan Micks' tour with Hummers. Ended up passing them after Golden Crack.
We finished the three trails in 11 hours. Do not attempt these trails by yourself. It was a long day.
June 17 - We did Hell's Revenge and Fins and Things. Hooked up with some rentals from out of the country. They followed me line for line on every obstacle in stock Rubis with 2.5" budget lifts. http://picasaweb.google.com/main.jef...eat=directlink
June 18 - Headed home by 9am and made it to Colby, KS for the night.
June 19 - Left Colby and made it home in one piece.
All and all, it was a blast and I can not wait for next year. We are planning on doing it all over again the same week next year.

Hey Jeff. Looks like you guys had a great time. So sorry for failing so miserably with hooking up with you guys. I thought Chip had brought his laptop with him but he didn't. All the contact info I had for you was onliine.
Great trail report though. I'm gonna have to get to work to put my pics up too. They didn't turn out as well as they should have since I forgot my UV haze lens and didn't compensate for it. The sun was SOO freaking bright it made a lot of my pics look washed out.
