You Jeep guys bashing the Hummer. let's get this straight. There are 3 HUMMERS. The H1, the H2 and the H3. I have no good comments to make for the H2 and H3 because GM got involved and screwed it all up. BUT the H! is the original just like the Willys Jeep was the original Jeep. And do you know that the Military and then civilian H1's were built on the original Willys Overland assembly line in Indiana. So go ahead and bash the H2 and H3, but remember the only difference between an H1 on a trail and a Jeep on the same trail is the H1 needed a wider trail. I pulled many a Jeep out of problems with my H1 back in the mid-1980's.
Look being in the Army for 8 years and having to live eat and S!%@ HUMVEE for that time i agree that the original Hummer is way better than the H2 or H3. Thats why i laugh at those people who think they have a "HUMVEE" rolling around in a H2 or H3 with 22inch wheels low profile tries , in my opinion all POS! Thats why i own a JK
ps. My neighbor JUST pulled in his yard with a new H3. I've given him an endless stream of crap ever since (good humored crap, we are friends).
Great video. Gives me new respect for the Sahara model. I guess they ARE at home in the sand.
As far Hummers, all you see anymore are H3s and a few H2s, so I think most of us are referring to those when we are negative. And most would agree the real Humvee and even the H1 are a whole different story. The others are really Hummer wannabees. So maybe we should refer to them as H-Ws.

Here's a little history lesson:
The bloodline of the commercial Hummer is:
American Motors Corporation, AM General Corporation => LTV => The Renco Group => GM (license)
The bloodline of the Jeep is:
American Bantam Car Company => Willeys-Overland (& Ford) => Kaiser => American Motors Corporation, AM General Corporation => Renault => Chrysler Corporation => DaimlerChrysler => Chrysler Holding LLC => Fiat
So while the Hummer shared one common intermediate link with the Jeep and may have been built in the same, old, decrepit Willy/Overland plant, I fail to see the relevance.
Hummer = Great 4x4 for the military. H1 = OK 4x4 but too wide, too heavy, and too hard on the gas mileage. H2 and H3 = JPS (just plain silly) IMO.
Well, to each their own...
My H2 has served me well. It rides smooth and has all the comforts and luxury of a Cadillac with plenty of space inside. It tows anything I put behind it and climbs the mountain freeways at well over the posted speed limit.
I can drive it hundreds of miles, wheel it and drive it home.
Most of the people that talk crap about my rig haven't even run the types of trails mine has.
I like Jeeps... actually I like them a lot, and I have friends that wheel them. I don't want one though.
I've also been doing this long enough to see my rig occasionally walk up obstacles that H1's and Jeeps in my group haven't been able to get up.
Ignorance isn't exclusive.
