Uwharrie is really the best, other than that theres the beaches and a few spots in the mountains I'm sure. Oh, and powerlines, but thats at your own risk

Uwharrie is about 2 hours away and I wheel the Park 'several' times a year, also my local club has outings up that way and to the beach, etc. during the year.
I also know of a couple of places for short runs around my home in Apex, just drop me a PM and I will discuss off Forum.

This link will get you to my club and info on Uwharrie: http://www.cnc4x4.org/

Good luck neighbor!

Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. You have to pay to access the beach. Unfortunately you have to pay for each location since one is managed by the town (CB) and the other by the state (FF). Fort Fisher is $12.00 for an all day pass. I went to Fort Fisher last Saturday and am going this Satruday as well.

I will be heading to Uhwarrie when it cools down...

Let me know if you find any places around the Triangle that are legal...

Good Luck!!

It is at the opposite end of Carolina Beach and is basically 4 miles of open beach. Since it is owned by the state there is no houses on this end of the beach. They have picnic tables, a bath house and a place to air your tires up. There is even a life guard station in front of this area and access is free. You have to pay to access the beach with your vehicle and once you are on the beach there are no life guards or bathrooms but that's okay since the furthest point away is 4 miles.

Here is a link to their website: (replace xx with tt) hxxp://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/fofi/main.php
