Ouray
Last Dollar Road from just outside Ridgeway to Telluride is a really pretty drive. It is passable in 2WD as long as it is DRY. If it is raining or has rained recently, you'll need 4WD. Moderate ground clearance is required, meaning a subaru can do it, but a civic can not.
The only trail I've encountered in the whole area that cannot be easily driven in a stock Sport Wrangler is Poughkeepsie Gulch, which I drove in a stock 2dr Sahara. Nothing in this area requires a Rubicon, some trails require a brain, but most don't even require that. Just go slow and enjoy the views.....
My parents just bought a cabin on Durango Mountain and I can't wait to go wheeling. I have the camber of commerce mailing me things but want some personal opinions on what trails to run. I have a 2.5 lift with km2 35's jku. I want scenic runs that are safe to take the family on. My wife has not been off wheeling with me. I don't mind if it scares her a little lol but want it to be doable without a spotter and no getting stuck. The cabin in actually a ski in ski out at Durango mountain so trials n that area will be great.
Thanks
