The Outer Banks - with pics
Well, my wife and I took our 10-year old niece to Hatteras and Ocracoke this weekend and we rode along the beaches. For those of you that have never done this, I highly recommend a trip to a beach that allows you to drive on the sand. It's very cool and made for a great weekend. The beaches were empty and we spent the entire weekend just hanging out and driving around.

The sand was packed towards the water and on the entrance ramp, but rather loose in the center. I aired down to about 18psi and had no problems.
We met a few other Jeepers, but only one JK. It's amazing the instant friendship you develop between Jeepers.

wow... weather was lovely. i was down there for a week in october last year and it rained like the heavens had opened up. i think there was this one time for a few hours it cleared up and i was able to enjoy beach driving with the top down.
glad you had a good time.
glad you had a good time.
Can't wait until I'm offically moved to the Inner Banks. Then it is just an hour to the Swan Quarter Ferry.
Ocracoke is great during the off season, unbearable during the tourist season.
You can always find an empty beach somewhere on the banks. You just have to keep driving until you find it.

We just got back from the Outer Banks last week. The house we rented from a friend had parking under it and a place to store my doors. So it was top down and no doors for most of the week. We stayed at Kill Devil Hills. We rode to Hatteras one day climbed the lighthouse and did some beach driving. Lots of it is closed right now because of some kind of bird. The #38 ramp was open with a pretty big area so we rode around there. My DC mud countrys aren't the best for sand even when aired down but I made it fine.
