Highlights from last weeks trip: The petroglyphs below are about 25 miles from Parhump, NV. Take Hwy 160 north to Beatty and turn right on a small dirt road just before the road to Crystal. As the canyon basin narrows, the petroglyphs are to the South, on large rocks rising out of a wash. It took a few miles of hiking to find them, which revealed a derivable (in current conditions) 4WD route through a wash. It's a rarely seen historical sight, and other than one set of initials dated 1950, it looks pristine -- And of course, that's the way to leave it.
Diana's Punch Bowl is in Nevada's Monitor Valley, off state road 82. It's temperature is near, or at boiling. It's about 50 feet in diameter and 30 feet deep. Definitely a bit dangerous. Driving straight up from the gate, rather than driving around the gradual slope to the left, could be the last hill climb you make!
