Thumbs up Project-JK Sidewinder / Bronco Peak Run 09-14-08

Ever since I saw the awesome pics that G Timmy posted from his run up Bronco Peak last December, I had been wanting to do this run especially since he suggested that an Unlimited might be too long to do it. And, although we were planning to do just that with a handful of people from JK-Forum, carnage on Sidewinder forced SoCal JK 2dr out of the run and with the day running late, all but Off Road Evolution decided to call it quits as well. Needless to say, while we still ended up running Bronco Peak, it would just be with the two of us.

Anyway, for those of you who are interested, here are some pics that we took from Sidewinder....

Here's a shot of us at the JK Corral where we stopped to have breakfast at Janet's Montana Cafe...

Shot of everyone airing down at the Four Corners Staging Area...

About 500 ft. onto Sidewinder, SGT. EVIL suffered a flat caused by his sway bar link bolt tearing into the sidewall...

Ryan Jacking up SGT. EVIL's JK while I pull the sway bar links and Doug changing the tire...

Making our way along one of many granite slabs along the way...

Trail Bud climbing up a granite ledge with ease...

Here's lensman making his way up with SoCal JK 2dr following behind...

SoCal JK 2dr almost making it up...

Unfortunately, he suffered a broken rear drive shaft...

lensman strapped up SoCal JK 2dr to help him off the trail...

Trail Bud spots his daughter Jessa up and over a big rock pile...

SGT. EVIL carefully making his way down the granite slide...

Here's premo showing how steep the slide is even going down all the way off to the side...

SoCal JK 2dr suffers another break...

Off Road Evolution takes over and flat tows SoCal JK 2dr the rest of the way off the trail...

Me towards the end of Sidewinder testing out my EVO Flex!

And finally, SoCal JK 2dr being hauled away thanks to some generous help from Trail Bud...

Special Thanks: I’d like to give a very special thanks to Doug for his generosity in helping Ty get his JK home, Neil from ORW for helping me to get my JK fixed and last but not least, Mel and Andrew from Off Road Evolution for being such a great help to others on the trail, for being such a great help to me personally and for staying with us till the wee hours of the night to make sure we were going to be okay. All of you guys rock!!

Thumbs up Bronco Peak

Okay, after everyone else left for home, Off Road Evolution, WOLette and I decided to go ahead and run Bronco Peak by ourselves and here are pics from it...

Making our way up at the start of the trail...

Quick poser shot...

A quick look underneat the EVO JK...

Climbing up some rocks...

Mel kicking things up a notch by taking a different line...

Almost to the peak...

Making my way down...

Shot of the EVO lever at work...

Shot of the EVO coilovers providing wicked flex...

Mel and Andrew assessing the damage to my broken track bar bracket...

On the move again after being fitted with a yellow bandaid...

Mel working his way down with this stupid crazy flex making everything look so easy...

On our way down the mountain...

Did I mention there is no handicap access off of Bronco Peak?

What rocks?

Making my way down the final stretch...

Mel on the final switchback...

One last tree to squeeze by and we're done!
