Recommend a camping trail for a newbie
Not new to camping, just new to camping out of a jeep!
My girlfriend and I are looking to take a trip from OK to either CO, AZ, NM and do a couple of days of camping and trail riding. I've never been to these states other than snowboarding trips in the winter. I'm looking for a trail that will take us far away and allow us to camp wherever we find a nice spot, preferably something with a water view.
I really am not interested in a level 8-10 trail as we will be traveling alone and don't want to rely on others for assistance. Something for us to get our feet wet with and enjoy the scenic views. I do have a 4.5" lift, winch, 35's and lockers so I know the jeep is capable but we're really just looking for a fun lowkey weekend expedition!
Any ideas for old ghost towns or scenic trails that require 4WD but not necessarily a fullblown rock crawler? Thanks!

Here are few trails that my family likes. All trails are intermediate, I have a JKU X with 33's, no lockers, and a winch.
Please practice low impact camping and pack it out, camp sites should be 100 feet from streams or rangers may get on you. Bury it deep if you don't pack it out

Sorry to say all that, but these are sites and areas we love going to. You can't imagine what I have packed out that's not mine
These are high country sites use bear containers

Get "guide to Colorado backroads & 4-wheel-drive trails" this is a great book and what I using as a reference.
No Particular Order
Tin Cup Pass - There are some great sites in the trees along the trail. St. Elmo is a nice ghost town.
China Wall - this is labeled advanced, but has bypasses I ran the wall with the family so it's not that bad and a blast. Great Camping sites near the river after the wall.
Medano Pass going to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. There are camp sites near the dunes (no driving on the dunes) check with the park if you need to reserve.
Slide Lake - Great High altitude site with a lake that is a half mile away.
Wurts Ditch - camp sites, hiking, etc.
Lincoln Creek - great camping and a trail way up the side of the mountain, one way at some points, easier to let other vehicles come down before going up. Old cabins along here.
Ouray & Telluride are some of the most beautiful places to go and the wheeling is great. See the JK Experience in Colorado. I haven't done any camping in this area. Lots of old mines
PM me once you get close to your trip.
I will look into other ghost towns.
