Default Rubicon Trail for the first time.

I am finishing the Summer by hitting the Rubicon Trail. It will be my first trip on it and could use some advice as to making the trip.

1) Is additional gas needed?
2) Do you need a winch?
3) How long does it take to go from Loon Lake?
4) Camping Location?
5) Do you need any permits?
6) Any additional feedback?

Thanks in advance,
Tortuga

Well, we didn't need any additional gas, but the Jeepers Jamborbee does recommend that you carry 5 extra gallons.

A winch is always good to have, but may not be absolutely necessary as long as you have another vehicle with you (don't go alone) and a tow strap. Make sure you have tow points front and rear.

It took us from about 7am to 5pm (basically all day) to go from Loon Lake to Rubicon Springs.

Great camping at Rubicon Springs and also at Buck Island Lake!

I'm not sure since we went with the Jeepers Jamboree

Don't go alone!
Inspect your jeep before the trip.
Carry some extra nuts and bolts!
Plan on taking your time and enjoy the scenery!
Take lots of pics
