San Diego to Big Bear to Big Sur!!
The girlfriend and I packed up the jeep again and headed out for a long weekend of camping, hiking and off road exploring!
Hope you enjoy the pics
Packed up and ready to go

We decided to take the back way up to big bear... ya know, the fun way!! EDIT: A route recommended by Toad (GOOGLE MAPS)

Stopped along the way for a poser shot. mmm, love the view!

Took the "Hard Line" through the carved out road for kicks (no picasa support = click link below)

Stopped to take a leak next to this waterfall-wanna-be. I bet its awesome when it rains!

Stayed at Pine Knot campground - cruised right past the "FULL" sign and got lucky enough to snag a last min cancellation spot!

Next we headed up to Big Sur. I insisted we leave ass crack of dawn - the GF slept part of the way up

10 miles into the twisty roads of route 1 up to Big Sur we run into this - LANDSLIDE!! road was closed with no way around (except a 4+ hour detour)

Posed to prove I was there

We then cruised back to the nearest campground (which also said FULL) and sweet talked our way into a spot! WOOT!
Also, met up with my bro who drove in on his motorcycle for some camping too

Getting a little crazy with the margaritas

Did some local hikes the next day instead of offroading because of the road closure. This one down to the water:

Hiked in to check out some awesome waterfall:

Rolling up to the edge of the cliff for a quick pic

Stars came out with a force at night - Got some pics

The last day we decided to hit up a steep trail to a super secret waterfall just past spruce creek camp site

View from the start

View from on the way up

The super secret waterfall that was about 1.5 hr hike in

Water was ice cold... so we chickened out and didn't jump in...

Last night at the campsite before the long dirve home

Check out my MPG on the way back!!! Must have been downhill the whole way

All of the pics are here if you are interested in checking them out.
Hope you enjoy the pics

That road closure sucks. They were supposed to have it open as a one lane road by now.
I always stare over the edge while I drive down there. I cant help myself, its so damn beautiful. Even growing up here, it doesn't get old. You didnt go to Pismo?!
