Shamrocked 2010 - 4th Annual Project-JK Newbie Run & Party in the Desert!!
If there's one thing you can count on, everytime we do our annual Last Chance Canyon Newbie Run, we always have a HUGE turn out and this year was no exception. In all, I believe we had about 40 rigs that came out to the event more than half of which stayed for the night. Of course, this was the first time we made the camping part of the trip a designated party that we called "Shamrocked" and for those who were there, I think they'd all agree that it was one hell of a party at that too. 
Fortunately or unfortuantely, in order to keep things moving along smoothly and quickly, we broke up our group into 5 groups of about 5 rigs (give or take) with a trail leader and tailgunner in each group. Needless to say, we weren't able to photograph everyone on the trail so most of our pics were focused on our specific group only. And, here they are, I hope you enjoy....
The morning of the Shamrocked at camp - a few of us came out early to clean up the old cabin and set up some decorations....
At the trailhead airing down and disconnecting....
Bullfrog getting people signed up into their designated group for the day...

Drivers meeting and Off Road Basics Class...
Group one heading up into the canyon....
Brainchild testing out his newly built up rig on a harder line at the begining of the trail...
Some of the newbies getting a taste of some rocks....
The more experienced in our group took some some time to have some fun...
Getting ready to drop off a off camber ledge...
About half way up the canyon....
Negotiating our way through one of the last rock gardens...
Soft sand and a bad line got this JK wedged inbetween a coulple of boulders. Fortuantely, it didn't take too much effort to get one of them out of the way so that he could get going again....
These 40" tires makes these rocks look tiny....
Unfortuantely, TikiJK just caught a boulder with her cross member and as it rolled up, it hoisted her up into the air....
After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to work her off the boulder, we decided to just strap her off....
As luck would have it, the same boulder just happend to catch her EVAP canister on the way out too...
Just before our last obstacle, we stopped for some lunch at the old Cudahy Camp....
At the base of our last obstacle for the day, "The Hill Climb", to take our traditional group shot....
On our way up....
Taking a line a little too far to the right gave us this exciting display...

and the crowd at the top grows...
Mel from Off Road Evolution came out late to join us for some fun...
With the show over, we head back for our Jeeps and on to camp....
At the end of the trail to air up and reconnect the daytrippers....
After setting up camp, it's time to start cooking....

and the girls start to get silly....

Well it really looks like you all had a great time. I sure saw a bunch of nice Jeeps in the crowd. Anywho, thanks for posting up and sharing the weekend with us non-attendees. Someday...

I had a good time seeing my friends and making some new ones. Wish I could have stayed for the camping, but work, as usual, cramped my style.
