Thumbs up Sledgehammer - Johnson Valley - 10.20.12

Vince, Scott ("BigLow"), Sam ("yessamskates"), Yogi the Pit Bull, and I headed out to Johnson Valley this past weekend to run some more Hammer trails. One of the trails we did was the classic Sledgehammer. If you are new to J.V., then this is one of the "must-do" trails.

I was without Beast on this run, but I did take video, and spot as needed. Sorry that this video is so long, but my intention was to show as much of the trail as possible, so if you have not done it before but are thinking of running it, then you can be completely forewarned!

Anyway, here's the vid:

I like how the video shows me going a few inches then getting stuck every time. Its a challenge on 35s!

Thanks for the video and can't wait for the next adventure. Looking for new sliders today... Rock Brawlers should hold up.

Wheeling Hammers is expensive.

This will be an expensive trip for me.

Since my sliders were body mounted I have some nasty holes that I want to cover up, so I have been looking at the Poison Spider Rock Brawlers, but man they are expensive once painted and installed. They look like what would solve this problem exactly: coverage and increased strength for the future. This will be the third set of sliders for my JK and better last for a while.

My gascap light won't kick off still. When i looked under the jeep I found the corner closest to the diff smashed in a few inches. Bet if I take off the skid plate, the gas tank will be dented in pretty good in that spot. I'm hoping that's the reason for the gas cap light as the lines and evap seemed fine. Otherwise I'll have to send it to the dealer.

Lost all my fenders, but I have GenRights fronts coming next week. Got a smoking deal on them at the Expo.

Found another thumb sized stick in another tire this morning but it's probably patchable. 4Wheel parts ordered a new 35" MTR for me to replace the sidewall damaged tire, but it's a few weeks out they said. It's going to be close but it might be within the warranty tread depth. If so it's going to have be 35s a little longer, if not I might have to take a break from wheeling as my funds are already stretched to build my rig.

Man, I thought Vince I break stuff a lot - you are in a whole different category. I have a new name for you: "Demolition Man."

They sure are. Frank bent both rear Dana 60 flanges, hi lift, rear bumper, tie rod, evo shock mount, both rear lca's, and broke his exhaust, grease zert on rear drive shaft, broke clips for fenders and got metal shavings in the rear diff. Blew out his steering stabilizer And bent his evo rock sliders into the pinch seam

All the rest of that carnage I understand, but I've never heard of someone bending the evo sliders!

Woah, now that's a laundry list. How did this happen? A refusal to turn around, breaks followed by more breaks trying to get out, a roll over? Or "trail ninjas", they popped two tires before we even got to Sledgehammer this last trip.
