Thumbs up Snow Wheelin in Summer - Rubicon Trail

Did a run up to Cadillac Hill today and, if it weren't for the deep water crossings, mosquitos and 80 degree temp, I'd say that it was still winter. At least, it was a tough climb up to the top in deep snow. Here are a few pics from our run...

About half way up, there was a steep wall of snow that required a bit of winching to get up and over...

Crazy steep snow drifts cut by deep water required some good flex to get up and over them...

Taking in the awesome view from the top of Cadillac Hill...

Wow...great pics! I had a feeling there would be lots of snow and water up there. The Lake is the highest I have seen in a very long time. Will you be able to run the entire trail before the end of July?

Wow some of that looks like complete mush. I bet the mud under that water crossing wasn't any better too

yeah, we've been coming to tahoe for years and this is the highest i've seen the water yet. from what the local news is says, this is the most snow tahoe has seen and have it stick around this long in 33 years and even back then, it wasn't this much.

regarding the rubicon, yeah, a built up rig can make it no problems now and i think most others should be able to make it by the end of the month. the snows are melting really fast now.

you got that right - whether you're on the snow or in the mud, the trail is super slick right now.

by august, most all the snow will be gone for sure. if i could guess, most of the water will be gone too or, at least not enough will be around to matter.
