Default SoCal Drivers Still Can't Handle Snow

Curtis and I are out here in Chula Vista (south of San Diego) visiting my folks. We went up to the Laguna Mtns yesterday, where it had (and still was!) snowed. Played in the snow and pulled out two vehicles that had run off the icy roads. Here are a couple pic's:

My Jeep:

Beautiful break in the weather:

Pulling out a stuck truck. This guy really didn't know what he was doing at all. You can see he has his wheels turned, which meant that he was pushing himself into that tree as Curtis pulled him back. So I walked up to him after taking the pic and suggested he straighten his wheels. I then positioned myself in front of him to guide him. Once we got him out, he continued trying to back up, right onto my tow strap even though I was in front giving him the handle signal to stop. Being on top of the tow strap, his vehicle wouldn't move so he kept accelerating. Tore up my tow strap a little bit. Oh well. :-( )

Nice pictures. I'm glad you helped him out. I hope he offered to replace your tow strap. I would advise though if possible to not extract someone in reverse. The gears are not as strong in reverse. It'll probably never be an issue, but it could.

Thanks for the advice, Tgrt. I'll pass that along to my son, too.

TGRT is right. Not only that, but in reverse it will put more stress on the front axle instead of being turned around and letting the rear axle (stronger) take the abuse. It is probably unlikely a minor extraction like that would be an issue though.
