You will be amazed at how little, (if any), tire spinning you experience with a good set of chains...just take them off ASAP after getting onto "safe ground" and do not drive above 20 - 25 MPH. Take care. Mike

I have a set of chains for the other Jeep and never had the need for them. Naturally when I finally needed chains I don't have a set for that vehicle yet. The next time I go do something stupid like take off into the snow unsupported I'm going to have chains.

I've got way more embarassing pictures to show his first girlfriend! Actually both of them can't keep from peeing as soon as they see snow.

Here are some Fins rolling in deep snow.

http://www.4x4offroads.com/4x4-snow-pictures.html

All of them seem to be running seriously oversized tires and almost no air pressure. (they talk about getting it back to 10-15 psi in just to get to the gas station)

I expect to get into deep snow regularly next winter in my Unlimited Rubicon so I am really interested in your experience. It looks like you are running stock correct?

Anyone else here have much experience running in deep snow?

Dave

PS - I have read that you should only use chains if it is icy and the snow is not too deep. The theory is that you want to stay on top of the snow and not dig down.

Great pictures thanks for sharing BradlyBob......Chains would never have helped if you were high centered on the frame and axles.

Wet packed snow is like concrete you are not going to go anywhere if you are stuck. The worst is when you are digging out the tires, axles & under the frame and you hear " WHUUUMP" and watch you vehicle drop down another couple inches in the snow again...you know you are gonna be digging longer total frustration!!!

If really want to play in the deep snow....I think I would look at a set of these.

Oh snaps! What up man! I think I seen you up in Lancaster a couple of weeks ago! I was on my way to my parents' place when I saw you. I was turning left onto Challenger from Avenue L, and then right onto Avenue K from Challenger...I think you were heading West (left turn) on Avenue K. Was that you? Rescue Green Unlimited Rubicon, right? I had the Rescue Green "X' with the Body Armor front bumper and the PIAAs on the top hoop, with the Warn winch covered up. Welcome to the Forum, dog!

Yep, that was most likely me. I live down the street from there. I think I remember seeing your Jeep too. That was probably one of the rare occasions when my wife let me drive "her" Jeep to work!

HA HA HA HA!!! The significant other can be quite an obstacle to surmount when trying to procure "your" vehicle to drive. Nevertheless, I'll keep my eyes peeled whenever I'm in that neck of the woods.

Honestly, that looked like a blast!

P.S. - here in florida, "snow" is really expensive and you certainly don't drive on it!
Holy Crap! I remember the "blizzard" of '77! I was in high school in Largo, Fl and was amazed at the first "snow" I had ever seen. It melted as soon as it hit the ground of course but it was still exciting.
