Default Tie Rod Canyon near Las Vegas - 06-21-08

Some local offroaders and I went to Tie Rod Canyon last weekend. It's a nice little trail with some off-camber spots and some descent obstacles. It's real close to the city so we started around 8am and were done by 11am before it got too hot.

View of Tie Rod Canyon

Our small group. 8500' tall Mt. Potosi is in the backround

Off camber

Climbing a playhill at the end

He didn't make it

Don't ever try something like this going down. He nearly flipped and would have kept flipping down the mountain: http://good-times.webshots.com/video...02055478MnOBxA

Some rocks to play on

Rubi climbing an obstacle

Heading back to Vegas. You can see the "Strip" in the backround. It's amazing the contrast between the city and the desert.

He eventually just made it down nice and slow after the sharp drop. He scraped his rear bumper a little on the way. This video was shot from above so it really doesn't do justice to how tall and steep that wall is.
Here's the conclusion :

Definitely a risky move! I would also be concerned about drivetrain damage from a hard frontal hit like that.

That is insane! I can feel butterflies in my stomach just looking at it! I would love to be there in person to watch but I sure would never do it. Wow!
