Trails in lower new york ?
I'm from westchester county new York and would love to try wheeling. Does anyone know anywhere good to start around here. Also jeep in mind my jku is stock so nothing to crazy haha
You can do stock either place. At Rausch you'll scrape some rocks even on the green trails. That said I've been on blue trails with stock JKUs.
Wharton is mainly just sand roads through the woods with some mud holes. Most aren't too deep, but you should be careful before going through some.
Check out the East Coast section for threads on each place.
I find Wharton boring, and sand gets everywhere.
I prefer Rausch, but for a first timer you may like the Sandy trails better.

Another spot would be Stokes Forest in Sussex County, NJ. It's a Spring, Summer, and Fall spot only. The Forest Service closes almost all of the roads in Winter for snowmobiles, dogsleds, and hiking.
Mostly dirt roads, some washouts, and a couple of waterfalls. Just a nice place to take it easy and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If your into hiking Stokes Forest also connects to the Appalachian Trail and I am told it has some of the best Fly Fishing in the state....... To me I would think you would have to catch alot of flys to make a meal.......
