Trails and Shooting
Probably should have posted this in the staging area, but thought I'd give it a shot here first (pun intended). I'm picking up my new Sig M400 and Benelli Nova tomorrow, does anyone know of any trails in SoCal that allow shooting and camping? Local ranges are getting boring.

There is some railroad tracks out by Anza Borrego (might be in Anza Borrego) and that land is BLM land where it is legal to shoot. On the way out there there was some trails off to the right also you would only be 5ish miles south of the recreational area where you can go do some 'ffroading. If you were running the 78 out towards that area you would turn right on Split Mountain Road and head south until the road sort of ends and you see the railroad tracks on the left side. When you see them turn left and head down the path about a mile and by that point you should have seen people out there shooting. Have fun and be safe, also please be responsible and clean up after yourself.
Thanks, we are going down there this weekend so maybe we'll see it. Won't be bringing any firearms though. Good point about picking up after yourself, I've seen way too much brass and shells at some of the places I've been to. No respect, bums me out.

My buddy John (who also works at ORW and used to be the salesman that would handle this forum before myself) and I were out shooting there 4 weeks ago and we would up bringing back approximately 100 pounds of trash that was left out there for targets. Most of the trash was heavily mangled from having hundreds of rounds shot through it. It saddens me to know some people don't enjoy the ability to go out to remote locations and shoot as much as I do. I say this because if we do not take care of the land it will be used for other things that don't allow us to shoot our firearms out there.
Couldn't agree more. As a kid I was taught to pick up all our brass, spent shells, and targets. About the only thing left when we were done was an old Swiss cheese truck someone abandoned in the hills. Do people not realize that not cleaning up after yourself is the biggest reason we lose our privileges? Just sad, but one more reason I'll most likely move from the state I was born in in the near future.
